Cyprus · Month 09 of 12
Cyprus in
September.
Most locals' favourite month — warm sea, gentler heat, the Limassol Wine Festival.
The weather, honestly
September is August with the sharp edges sanded off. Sea still at 27°C, air down to a more comfortable 31°C, crowds thinning visibly by mid-month. The light changes — softer, lower, kinder to photographs.
What to actually do
The best balance month in the Cypriot year for most visitors. Warm enough to want the sea, cool enough to enjoy Nicosia in the afternoon. The Limassol Wine Festival fills the city for two weeks; the cultural calendar picks up across the island.
Events & festivals
- Limassol Wine Festival — Limassol Municipal Gardens. Late August/early September, two weeks. Pours from every Cypriot winery, food stalls, music. Genuine.
- Pafos Open Air Festival continues — Paphos. Opera into early September.
Where to go
- Limassol. Wine festival energy + still-warm sea.
- Polis. Slower, cooler, quietly excellent food scene.
- Krasochoria. Harvest happens — wineries open, grapes everywhere.
What to pack
- Summer clothes
- A thin layer for late evenings (some breeze begins)
- Sun cream
Practical notes
Prices drop noticeably after the first week. Mid-September onwards is the sweet spot.
