Cyprus in
July.
Hot, busy, brilliant if you commit to the beach.
The weather, honestly
July is heat and certainty. Highs of 34°C on the coast, 38-40°C in Nicosia by mid-afternoon, zero rain days, thirteen hours of sun. Sea at 26°C — bath temperature, the bays are perfect, the cities are tougher than the coast.
What to actually do
Beach holiday month, no question. The Cape Greco coast and Polis bays are at their best. Avoid the inland sightseeing in the middle of the day — Kourion at 14:00 is a mistake; Kourion at 19:00 with the sunset is glorious. Larnaca runs its summer festival across July.
Events & festivals
- Larnaca International Summer Festival — Larnaca. Concerts in the medieval castle through July.
- Beer Festival — Limassol. Late July. Loud, warm, popular with locals.
Where to go
- Polis & Latchi. The quieter side of the Akamas, more breeze than the south.
- Cape Greco. Konnos Bay early morning is one of the best swims in the Med.
- Troodos villages. Escape the heat — Platres, Kakopetria, Omodos are 6-8°C cooler than the coast.
What to pack
- Beach clothes
- Maximum sun protection
- Swim shoes
- A hat with a proper brim
