Larnaca Airport to Limassol: shuttle, taxi, bus or hire car?

For most visitors, the direct Limassol Airport Express shuttle is the sensible public-transport answer from Larnaca Airport to Limassol. It is a scheduled airport service, not a collection of local buses, and the operator serves both Agios Georgios Havouzas and the tourist-area side of Limassol. Choose a taxi or private transfer when the exact door, flight time or luggage situation matters more than the lowest fare; choose a hire car when it will improve the rest of the holiday too.

The detail that changes the answer is your final address. A Limassol hotel may be by the marina, in the old town, in Germasogeia, around the tourist area or up a residential hill. A coach stop that looks close on a resort map can still be an awkward walk with cases. Save the accommodation pin before booking anything, then choose the transfer around that rather than the city name alone.

Limassol Airport Express currently describes its Larnaca route as a direct airport service with a stop in the Limassol tourist area. Its timetable valid from 1 July 2026 lists adult tickets at €10 and children aged 3–12 at €5. Those are useful planning figures, but transport details change: use the official timetable for your actual date, rather than copying a departure from this page into an itinerary.

The direct option: Limassol Airport Express

This is the straightforward answer when you are arriving in daylight, your flight leaves a realistic margin for bags and your accommodation is convenient for one of the scheduled stops. The service is designed for the Larnaca Airport–Limassol journey, which makes it much simpler than first taking a city bus into Larnaca and then finding a separate intercity connection.

The current official Larnaca itinerary shows departures across the day, including early and late services, but the pattern varies by day. Check the current PDF or timetable page shortly before travel, especially around a public holiday. The operator specifically asks passengers to confirm the current programme through its website or call centre because services can change with airport operations and holidays.

Check the Limassol stop before you commit

The coach does not serve every Limassol hotel. The official timetable identifies two useful arrival points:

• Agios Georgios Havouzas station, an inland Limassol transport point; and
• a tourist-area stop opposite the St Raphael, Grand Resort and Kanika Elias Beach area.

That makes the tourist-area stop potentially useful for some east-side resorts. It is less obviously convenient for the marina, old town, central business district or an apartment well away from the main road. Havouzas may be a better connection point for some addresses, but it is still not a hotel transfer.

Put both stops and your accommodation into a map before you travel. If the last stretch is a long walk, uphill or after dark, plan a short local taxi in advance or use a private airport transfer instead. This is the small check that separates an efficient €10 coach journey from an arrival that feels needlessly complicated.

The operator’s online booking page currently says “coming soon”, so do not assume a web reservation is available just because a search result suggests it. Consult the live timetable and official contact details for the current boarding or ticket arrangement.

Taxi or private transfer: pay for a particular door

A taxi or pre-booked transfer is not simply a more expensive bus. It solves a different problem: getting a specific group, with specific bags and requirements, from the airport to a specific address without an extra walk or a timetable calculation.

It is usually the better choice for a late landing, a villa, a pushchair, a child seat, a traveller with limited mobility or a large amount of luggage. It can also be the better value for a larger party — compare the complete vehicle price with the group total for the coach, not a tempting per-person “from” figure.

Avoid relying on a generic taxi price in a search snippet. Transfer prices, airport supplements, vehicle size and waiting arrangements are commercial details that can change. Ask for a written quote for the exact flight and address, and confirm:

• that the amount includes all airport, night, waiting and luggage charges;
• how many passengers and cases the proposed vehicle can actually carry;
• child-seat, accessibility or oversized-luggage arrangements;
• the meeting point and what happens if the flight is delayed; and
• the full property address and map pin, not only “Limassol”.

That last point matters because the Limassol area is spread out. A transfer quote can be clear and still be for the wrong zone if the accommodation listing has only used the city name.

Local and intercity buses: possible, but not the simple default

There is a common trap in search results: a page can correctly say there is a “bus” from Larnaca Airport to Limassol while referring to a route that requires more than one operator. The airport express, Larnaca’s local buses and Intercity Buses are separate services with different stops, tickets and timetables.

An all-public-transport plan can be worthwhile when you are travelling light, have a flexible daytime arrival and genuinely want to minimise the cost. It is not usually the relaxed first-hour option after a flight. You need to get from the airport into the relevant Larnaca network, make the intercity connection and still solve the final mile at the Limassol end.

If you choose that route, make it a proper mini-itinerary rather than a vague backup:

1. Check the live Larnaca Airport local-bus service for your arrival day.
2. Check the separate Larnaca–Limassol Intercity Buses route and its actual city stops.
3. Check the distance from the Limassol stop to your accommodation before leaving the airport.
4. Save the last practical connection and a taxi alternative offline.

If the express does not fit your flight, a confirmed private transfer is normally a cleaner fallback than turning an airport arrival into three uncertain connections. It is less compelling for a city-and-seafront break centred on the marina, old town, restaurants and a few pre-planned excursions. Before flying, save your accommodation’s full address and map pin, then check when you are likely to clear the terminal rather than using the flight’s scheduled landing time. Compare that realistic time with the live airport-express timetable and identify the better Limassol stop. Finally, decide whether the walk from that stop is genuinely comfortable with your luggage.

If it is, the shuttle is a good, direct airport-to-city option. If it is not, book a door-to-door solution rather than hoping to improvise after a delayed flight. The best transfer is not the theoretical cheapest one; it is the one that gets you from arrivals to the first door without turning the start of the holiday into a logistics exercise.
