A transfer may be better value for a group with luggage; a car may be unnecessary for two people staying by the harbour; the bus can be an excellent choice when you have time and do not mind treating arrival as part of the day. By bus: airport to Karavela, Karavela to Polis, Polis to Latchi

The public-transport option is perfectly possible, but it is not a single through bus. Pafos Buses publishes this chain:

1. Route 613: Paphos Airport to Karavela Station. The airport route runs daily between the terminal and Karavela. Its published stop sequence includes Geroskipou and the town-side corridor before Karavela; check the official live 613 page for the day’s departure times and diversions.
2. Route 645: Karavela Station to Polis Chrysochous. This is the key cross-district leg. The official 645 timetable lists separate weekday, Saturday and Sunday/public-holiday patterns between Karavela and Polis. It is not an airport shuttle, so do not assume that its departures line up with a flight.
3. Route 622: Polis Chrysochous to Latchi. From Polis Bus Station, route 622 runs through Prodromi and Latchi towards the Baths of Aphrodite. It is the short final leg, but it still has its own day-specific timetable.

That structure matters more than a list of copied times. Landing is not the same as being ready to board: allow for the aircraft door, passport control if relevant, bags, toilets, cash/card arrangements and finding the stop. Then add a proper margin at Karavela and Polis. If a missed connection would turn the first afternoon into a long wait, book a transfer or collect a car instead.

Pafos Buses currently publishes district one-way and daily ticket information on its official ticket page, but ticket rules, transfers and payment arrangements are operational details. Check them directly before travel and do not assume that one ticket covers every leg merely because the routes share an operator.

When the bus is the good choice

Use the bus when the journey itself is acceptable rather than something to optimise away. It can suit a solo traveller or couple arriving early, staying in or near Latchi harbour and happy to keep the first day loose. It also works better when you have already saved each route page, know where your accommodation is from the Latchi stop, and have a backup plan if a connection slips.

It is a poor fit when the itinerary starts with a fixed boat departure, a dinner booking, a child who needs a straightforward transfer, or a villa that is not actually walkable from the harbour. Taxi or pre-booked transfer: buy simplicity when it matters

A direct taxi or pre-booked transfer makes the most sense when the arrival has little tolerance for friction: an evening flight, a young family, bulky luggage, limited mobility, or an address up a road that is not obvious from the harbour. It is also a sensible choice for a short Latchi stay where the plan is beach, harbour and a booked boat day rather than independent driving.

Do not choose from an old “Paphos Airport to Latchi taxi price” snippet. Quotes, airport supplements, vehicle availability and luggage capacity change. Instead, send the provider your flight number, full accommodation address, passenger count and cases, then confirm:

• the complete door-to-door price and what it includes;
• the vehicle type and realistic luggage capacity;
• child-seat or accessibility needs, if applicable;
• the meeting point and what happens after a delayed flight;
• whether the return transfer needs booking now.

Hire car: the useful option for a wider west-coast holiday

Paphos Airport is a practical place to collect a hire car when Latchi is one part of a wider route: Paphos archaeology, a village lunch, Polis, coastal beaches or several independent days around the west. The official visitor transport guidance says major car-rental firms operate at Paphos Airport and reminds visitors that traffic keeps left in Cyprus.

Choose the car for the days after arrival, not simply because the airport-to-harbour journey is longer. It can sit unused and add parking, collection paperwork and driving after a flight to an otherwise calm break. Conversely, it becomes valuable quickly if each day relies on a different beach, village or trailhead.

One boundary is important around Latchi and the Akamas: surfaced roads are not the same as every track shown on a map. The official guidance says minor and forest roads can be unsurfaced and need appropriate care, while your rental agreement sets its own permissions and insurance. Plan the final kilometre, not just the airport leg

“Latchi” can mean the harbour, a beach-side hotel, a property closer to Polis or a villa up a quieter road. Before committing to any transport, save the exact address and check the walking distance from the likely drop-off or bus stop. A map pin that looks close can become a hot, uphill walk with bags; a transfer quote that says “Latchi” may not include an outlying property.
